Funeral Mass for Palé Mike

to be celebrated January 17

at Cathedral-Basilica

The Catholic Church, family, and friends of Father Mike Crisostomo will honor the beloved CHamoru priest during his funeral Mass on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagatña.

Funeral visitation and Mass for Palé Mike will take place in the main church of the Cathedral-Basilica, where the longtime local priest was ordained on June 22, 1996, and also celebrated and concelebrated numerous Masses during his three decades of faithful service to God and his people.

Public visitation will start at 8 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. followed by the family’s final despidida.

The Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Most Rev. Ryan P. Jimenez will be the presider with numerous priests of the Archdiocese of Agaña concelebrating.

Nightly Rosary, Mass continue at St. Saint Anthony

Holy Rosary is being prayed nightly this week at 5:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 6 p.m. in Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Tamuning where the beloved priest served as pastor for many years. The ninth and final night is on Saturday Jan. 10 with Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Mass at 5 p.m.

On the day of the funeral Saturday, Jan. 17, Palé Mike’s remains will arrive at the Cathedral-Basilica at 7 a.m. with the first hour to allow for the clergy to have private time with him. His brother priests and deacons will pray the Office for the Dead at this time. Although this is private time, the public is invited to join in praying the Office for the Dead.

Family pall bearers will escort Palé Mike from the hearse to the doors of the Cathedral-Basilica upon arrival and from the church doors to the hearse after Mass. His brother priests will escort him to the Sanctuary where his casket will be placed prostrate on the sacred floor for the Office of the Dead and funeral Mass where he also prostrated himself during his ordination when he took his vows invoking the Litany of Saints.

Closing of the casket will take place at 11:45 am followed by the eulogy to be delivered by his brother Jerry Crisostomo at 11:50 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place at Pigo Catholic Cemetery in Anigua.

Honoring Palé Mike with a drive past all churches

On Friday, January 16th, the family will bring Palé Mike’s casket carrying his remains to his last parish at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inalahan for an hour-long visitation with his parishioners starting at 10 a.m.

At 11:00 a.m., the family will escort Palé Mike past all the Catholic churches throughout the island. They will stop briefly then return to the mortuary.

The Church and Crisostomo family thank everyone for your tremendous outpouring of prayers, love and support for Palé Mike. Even as we mourn, we celebrate the blessings of this wonderful priest, friend and spiritual leader that our Lord gave to us.
